The Lymphatic System & Its Association to Pain
Most massage therapists know the lymphatic system exists — but few realise just how big a role it plays in why clients experience pain. This talk takes a closer look at this often-forgotten system and explores the connection between a sluggish or overloaded lymphatic system, inflammation, and the pain your clients feel on the table.
We will walk through how the lymphatic system works, what happens in the body when it isn't working well, and how that leads to inflammation that can cause or keep pain going. You will come away with a clearer picture of why some clients seem stuck in their pain, and how your work as a massage therapist can genuinely make a difference to how their body heals. You will take away an overview of the lymphatic system and what it does alongwith:
How the body uses inflammation to heal — and when it becomes a problem;
Why ongoing inflammation makes the body more sensitive to pain;
Recognise clients who may have a lymphatic component to their pain — such as those recovering from surgery, dealing with ongoing swelling, or presenting with pain that doesn't seem to have a clear cause.
