Benefits of choosing an MANZ Massage Therapist
MANZ registered Massage Therapists choose to belong to a self-regulating professional body which upholds professional and ethical standards in massage therapy practice. Supporting and connecting members, allowing members to keep up to date with industry developments and massage therapy research.
Massage therapy in New Zealand is an unregulated profession. That means that anybody can set up shop as a massage therapist without any qualifications or experience.
By choosing a MANZ registered Massage Therapist, you can be sure that your massage therapist has achieved industry approved qualification(s), competence, experience, and are committed to high standards of practice and professionalism. MANZ therapists will work within their scope of practice, will abide by the MANZ Code of Ethics, and will update their skills frequently through the Continuing Professional Development requirements.
Why choose an MANZ Registered Massage Therapist (RMT)?
Massage Aotearoa New Zealand members follow the MANZ Code of Ethics, as well as adhering to the Health and Disability Commissioner’s Code of Rights. This means MANZ members adhere to high ethical standards regarding their interactions with clients.
MANZ members have completed NZQA approved or equivalent courses of study in massage therapy relevant to their registration level. If a member has completed their training at a non NZQA or foreign training college MANZ will assess the training through an RPL process.
MANZ members are required to engage in 20 hours of continued professional development per year. This may be hands on or theoretical training in any discipline relevant to a therapist’s practice.
MANZ therapists are connected with one another and with the global massage therapy community. Members can attend networking meetings, they receive quarterly magazine publications and are presented with many professional development and upskilling opportunities via email.
